36,000 meals in 10 Years
I'm 33. Assuming I ate 3 meals a day for every day of my life so far, it would have totalled to 3*365*33. I’d rough that to ~36,000. Yet, for the past 10 years or so, I've done a lot of fasting and mostly ate 1-2 meals a day, but still 36,000 is a solid number.
Solid number for what?
Well, to give back. It's been a while since I began using this United Nations app called Share the Meal. It's currently been downloaded 1+ million times and it's been awarded the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize Laureate for its work on the frontlines fighting hunger in 88 countries around the world. This app is part of the UN World Food Programme.
At any one time, you can donate to various different programmes in multiple countries for as little as 1 meal, which is $0,80. What I love about them is that they are very transparent and gives you the break down of your donation.
Also, you can donate anonymously and you have a dashboard that shows how much money you donated and how many meals that equates to.
Thus, I'm far from reaching my goal, but I take one step at a time. I usually donate to "Feed children around the world".
This being said, I think it's one of the most transparent ways for me to give back, one of the most legit, impactful and meaningful. Plus I have a nice breakdown/tracker of my activity.
I've set myself an initial target of 10 years to reach this goal. And that is roughly giving 300 meals a month. I'm well aware that in 10 years, my 36,000 would actually turn into 48,000 or so, which is why I intend to reach my initial goal sooner, and then set another one that's bigger.
As I keep leveling up my skills in cybersecurity and machine learning and as I begin making more money, it should become easier.
And I'm writing this piece as a reference point for my future self to look back to, reflect, and build upon.
I have some open spots for coaching and consultations in cyber, machine learning and web application super-fast development with nocode (like I did with Alterai.me - from idea to product in less than 30 days). No coding experience is required. You can contact me by replying to this email or DM on Twitter @cristivlad25.
Also, feel free to reach me out on Twitter with thoughts about what I said here or to tell me what I can do to help you grow in any way, shape, or form.
Cheers, Cristi
