One day in the not too distant future...
I'm going on an extended holiday.
I've decided to take my time, go where there is sunshine and rainbows, see new places (or maybe just visit old favorites - but it's also a good chance for some serious self-improvement!
The idea of this trip came up after a conversation about my work life with one colleague who was complaining bitterly that he couldn't do what his boss asked without getting fired from his job as well because "you're only here if you can't be bothered".
It occurred to me then that many jobs require more commitment than most other things we might want or even think necessary; so why should they get any less? The same goes when people are forced into working long shifts: no matter which company your colleagues happen upon next week during their shift changes/holidays, whether by coincidence OR design-they will still expect YOU at certain points each night/weekend.
This means either being stuck somewhere doing something else all evening every single weekend until someone else has got free hours leftover before having had enough fun & relaxation.
Or perhaps finding yourself trapped between 8 AM Friday morning and 10 AM Sunday lunch break while everyone around you seems perfectly contented.
I don’t mind if you tell your friends! And for more…
