The Insider Weekly #2 - Burp Suite Course | Data Breaches | Taking Time Off
The worst time to start a newsletter is around the holidays. If last week was very easy for me to write this, now it’s not so much. But it wouldn’t be me if I quit from the very second batch. So, onwards!
The first order of business is that I’d like to know you better. So, tell me what you enjoy reading about:
If there’s anything else, reply to this email and tell me about it. I’ll tailor my writing accordingly.
The second order of business is the holiday giveaway. I’ve got 100 free coupons for the following courses:
The coupon code for all of them is YYYYNOT.
Happy learning, and please leave a review and tag me on Twitter when you finish any of these courses.
From the cyber-space, these are some noteworthy pieces I consider worth checking out:
LastPass: Hackers Stole User Data and Encrypted Password Vaults
Pwning the source prompts of Notion AI, 7 techniques for Reverse Prompt Engineering... and why everyone is *wrong* about prompt injection (definitely check this out if you’re interested in the combination of AI and Cybersecurity)
Most Important Python Security Tools for Ethical Hackers & Penetration Testers 2023
Salaries in Cybersecurity (a Youtube video by yours truly)
How I do subdomain enumeration (by yours truly)
How to stay up to date in cybersecurity (by yours truly and InsiderPhD)
On another note:
I’ve taken plenty of time off for the past few days (enjoying the holidays).
Slowly making big plans for 2023 in all areas of my life, especially outside work.
I’ve read 55 books this year, way less than in 2021 (138 books read), but I also read many more research papers. I plan to read about 100 books in 2023. The overwhelming majority of the books I read are practical, non-fiction.
Planning to take the next week off of pentesting clients, and a bit of bounty hunting on private targets on Intigriti, Synack, and Bug Bounty Switzerland.
I said earlier that I moved all my note-taking to Notion. What I love about it is that I can search globally all over the notes I’ve taken in the last 10 years. Super powerful!
Looking to grow this newsletter to 10k subscribers in 2023 and at least 100 paid subscribers. If you have growth hacking suggestions, reply to this email.
I’m 9 km away to beat my 2021 cycling record which was 2875 km. It’s half an hour of cycling on slow to moderate intensity and I’ll probably do it today or tomorrow.
Planning to invest much more $$$ into my 2023 ongoing education, self-taught.
That’s all for this week; I’ll see you next week in batch #3.
